the turkish coffee table

the turkish coffee table

A violent marital quarrel turns into the ultimate nightmare for the new father. It all begins with a particularly hideous coffee table that Ibrahim buys, despite his wife’s strict opposition. Clearly, a big mistake. Then, the unthinkable happens, and Ibrahim’s once cozy home transforms into a macabre battlefield. As he desperately clings to the rapidly crumbling remnants of his sanity and tries to maintain a façade of normalcy in front of his family, the bloody truth waits just a few steps away, ready to be discovered.

THE TURKISH COFFEE TABLE is more than a vicious farce filled with quirky characters and echoes of Michael Haneke’s dystopias: a grotesque yet shocking look at our desperate attempts to keep our composure – no matter what. Can Evrenol (BASKIN, SAYARA) is known for fearlessly confronting taboos. This time, too, he pushes boundaries to an extent that sensitive viewers may find overwhelming. Consider yourselves warned.
