“Science fiction questioned!” is the motto for an exciting and educational evening, hosted by the Zeiss-Großplanetarium in Berlin and the Munich Observatory. We will be showing the cult classic THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN (1971) by Robert Wise, which was nominated for two Oscars. After the screening, we will discuss with scientific experts whether the content of the film is more “science” or “fiction”.
About the movie: The US government is feverishly researching the causes of a mass extinction in a small town in Nevada in a secret underground laboratory. A deadly dust of extraterrestrial origin has reached Earth and is beginning to mutate. This first film adaptation of a bestseller by Michael Crichton was a cinematic milestone in its day and is still great cinema.
